Ella & Alex’s Pelican’s Landing Wedding | Corolla Wedding Planner

Ella & Alex were unfortunately here for their Outer Banks Wedding during some crazy April OBX weather! As a reminder – the previous day we celebrated another Corolla couple in some very a-typical 90 degree April weather. Ella & Alex’s day started much the same – hot and humid for April – until a cold front raced through and brought with it extreme winds, severe thunderstorms & even HAIL. Yes, hail. Why am I telling you this horror story with weather?! Well, one, to show that having a Plan B is always important but two, that weather is out of our control and doesn’t have to ruin your wedding day! The joy is still evident on the faces of these newlyweds – the marriage & celebration is the important part and no amount of rain or hail was going to dampen their love!

The wedding was hosted at Pelican’s Landing  – an event home in the Whalehead neighborhood of Corolla. The cool thing about this event home is you don’t have to rent for a full week! You can actually just rent for as little as 2 nights! The house offers a large backyard that can be tented and is oceanfront with included benches for ceremony! Coastal Provisions caterered the buffet dinner & also provided bartending services.

In the morning, the ladies went to the Glimmer salon to be pampered before coming back and relaxing in the upper level of Pelican’s Landing. Ella & Alex chose to include family in some special components of their wedding day, including having their uncle provide ceremony music & their Aunt, Revered Megan Strollo, officiate the wedding ceremony.

After the ceremony, guests were ushered from the beach to the backyard area where they enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, lawn games & steel drum tunes by Minksy Delmonte. The family did all of the decor themselves including the centerpieces, bouquets & also made many of the lawn games like the cornhole, giant Jenga & more!

The tent & other rentals were via Ocean Atlantic Event Rentals.

Later in the evening, guests enjoyed cupcakes from Just Cupcakes of Virginia Beach, a popcorn bar & had fun with the Kitty Hawk Kites Photo Booth!
