Grande Ritz Palm Wedding | Austyn & Nathan | Duck Wedding

Austyn & Nathan are SUCH a fun couple and their wedding at Grande Ritz Palm was a blast, despite some rain derailing our Plan A! If you need proof of this…scroll down to their entrance into the reception where they surprised everyone and came out in rocker costumes!

Austyn & her bridesmaids were dolled up by the Glimmer team as they got ready in the Master suite of the Grande Ritz Palm house. The guys got ready and enjoyed the Pool Table Lounge on the other end of the home! Both are great spaces to get ready! The flowers for the tables as well as the wedding party bouquets & boutonnières were from the Flower Gallery at Harris Teeter – Kitty Hawk location! The bride provided the rose gold sequin table runners, mercury glass votives & blush napkins to complete the rest of the tablescapes. It was such a classy, semi-formal look!

In typical July fashion, the day started nice and sunny but the heat & humidity eventually resulted in some summer pop up storms. With rain coming down, we moved the ceremony inside and came up with a pretty great Plan B to make that happen! Half of the guests stood at the top of the double staircase overlooking the open foyer area where they had a great view of the “altar” area below, while the immediate family and the rest of the guests were on the next level down watching the ceremony in a more traditional viewpoint. Rev. Jay Bowman made light of the change in plans and the ceremony was both lighthearted and heartfelt and guests were so understanding of the last minute changes!

We got lucky and the rain let up just long enough for the wedding party & Austyn & Nathan to go take photos outside on the soundfront and then to do the introductions outside poolside. Because the rain was supposed to come and go all night, we did have to move the dinner tables to a Plan B format so instead of around the pool, they were partially inside and then some on the covered porches. The buffet & bartenders were via Black Pelican Catering and of course everything was amazing! Instead of a traditional wedding cake, Austyn & Nathan opted to cut a small one tier cake & then guests all enjoyed a pie bar of so many delicious flavors as well as cupcakes by Almost Heaven Bakery.

After dinner we moved the celebration back outside and of course cue the rain again right during the newlywed’s first dance. These bad asses just kept dancing though! Most romantic first dance ever! DJ Lady Syren aka Andy Marshall from Virginia still kept the party going even with the rain coming and going!

The real heroes of the day were Jonathan Pillow Photography & Raleighwood Productions for going with the flow and being so flexible with the not so optimal shooting locations, especially for ceremony!  Make sure you take a look at all the details from the wedding below!
