It’s tough to find a more quintessential OBX wedding venue than Kitty Hawk Pier! It’s a Kitty Hawk icon and now with the adjacent Hilton Garden Inn, it’s perfect for destination weddings! The Pierhouse is right over the ocean which means ocean views every direction and you can even walk directly out onto the pier to enjoy the outside! On particularly rough ocean days you can even feel the pier swaying!
The wedding party rented houses in nearby Southern Shores to get ready in. The Glimmer team traveled there to the girls’ house to do hair and makeup. Can we talk about Sarah’s ponytail? One of my all time favorite looks! Oh and her shark shoes? Yes!
Sarah & Pat chose to have their ceremony at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk before attending the reception later at Kitty Hawk Pier! They built in ample time between the two so that everyone could take their time and not rush from church to cocktail hour! OBX Trolley was onsite to shuttle the wedding party to all the places they needed to be for the day.
When they were greeted at Kitty Hawk Pier, it was by OBX Sunset Slush with their delicious Italian ice! What a great treat on a warm day to kick off the reception festivities! Inside the pierhouse, Bells & Whistles had created gorgeous tropical centerpieces. I also loved how the bridesmaids were all palm leaf bouquets to not compete with their colorful print dresses (by Show Me Your Mumu!) but Sarah’s was a tropical showstopper!
The Hilton provided the food and beverage for the reception – including one of my fave specialty drinks to date – the “Shark Attack” which even including a plastic shark! Remember I mentioned the bride’s shark shoes earlier? It’s all in the little details! After dinner, guests were treated to Duck Donuts instead of wedding cake. DJ Bruce was on the music and had the dance floor packed of course!
