Whalehead Club Wedding | Jen & Patrick | Corolla Wedding

Outdoor weddings are absolutely beautiful and usually so much fun! But with an outdoor wedding comes the risk of inclement weather that you have to plan for and our ultimate goal? Having Plan B look just as amazing (and planned!) or better than Plan A!

Unfortunately for Jen & Patrick, a Nor’easter blew through the Outer Banks on their wedding day and we definitely had to put those Plan B protocols in place! Good thing their venue, The Whalehead Club in Corolla, is gorgeous rain or shine! Just wait until you get to the photos at the bottom – a cloudy, rainy day can’t stop this beautiful celebration!

The ladies got ready at a Corolla Oceanfront home and the Lovie’s Salon team got them all dolled up! The Corolla Trolley brought them from their home to the Whalehead Club, ensuring all arrived in style!

Our ceremony was initially planned for the point, but due to the weather we made the last minute decision to put up a separate clear tent for the ceremony. Dorothy of Bells & Whistles was able to pivot from the original ceremony decor and instead transform the small tent into an intimate, beautiful location for the vows. The ceremony chairs were from I Do OBX Weddings & Events and Tony Joseph of the same company officiated for the couple!

Both the ceremony tent and the reception tent, as well as all other rentals were from Metro Rentals. They were so responsive to all of the crazy changes we made week of the wedding due to the storm!

Bells & Whistles knocked it out of the park with the beautiful reception tent decor and centerpieces. As part of the design, we also brought in Blue Steel Lighting to provide professional lighting throughout the tent and it really transformed the space! When inside the tent, you had no clue the nasty weather raging outside! Another reason guests were swept up in the party? The incredible band – Power 2 Party via Sam Hill Entertainment! Y’all this band will bring the party! I’m obsessed!

The team of Basnight’s Lone Cedar battled the elements to serve an amazing plated meal to the guests, as well as some fun late night food! The beautiful and delicious wedding cake was from Just Desserts.

Like I said, the weather may have shifted some plans, but nothing could bring down this celebration! Enjoy the photos below from Matt Lusk Photography and the highlight video from Swell Films!
